BUMPS & BABIES NEWSLETTER - May 2012
“Today is a day of new opportunities.
Let me not lose them by dwelling on the past.”
Dear mums and mums-to-be,
Here we are in May - the month of fertility and new birth! As you walk your own journey of creation, birth and parenting, my wish is that you remember the wonder of what you and your body are able to create. It isn’t always easy, but it is a miracle - take a deep breath and feel that right now...
This month we continue with classes as usual, and there’ll also be some baby yoga with dads, birth preparation for couples, and a lovely morning of nurture for women. Check out the links below for more information.
THE WAY OF THE PEACEFUL PARENT
an exerpt from Genevieve Simperingham (www.peaceful-parent.com)
When we largely view children as being either in balance (feeling connected, safe, needs met) or out of balance (seeking to meet needs) rather than good or bad, behaving or misbehaving; this perspective change elicits different questions and different responses. Remembering to relate to our child's feelings and needs (as well as their behaviour) helps us remember to explore the question "how can I help her?" as opposed to "how can I make her ...?". We'll be more inclined to wonder "what does he need" than "what consequence should I set to instill responsibility?"
